Did you know that there is no cure for the common cold? Incredible considering how widespread this condition is and how almost every

living person will be affected by bit at some point in their lives. There are plenty of natural remedies for colds as well as medications prescribed by a doctor. For the common cold without any underlying symptoms we will focus on just the natural remedies for today.
Drink Hot Liquids:
A cold can cause inflammation of the membranes that line the nose and throat. Drinking hot liquids can soothe this symptom as well as helping with dehydration and nasal congestion.
Steamy Shower:
To help relax your body and moisturize your nasal passages, have yourself a nice long hot steamy shower. You’ll feel much better afterwards.
Gargle Salt:
If your throat is irritating you like I know it will do if you have a cold, then take a teaspoon of salt in a warm glass of water and gargle 3 – 4 times during the day for a bit of relief.
Resting:
Although there is no cure for the common cold in the outside world, your immune system can fight off this infection quicker if it is provided with the right balance of energy. Resting when you first get a cold can give your immune system the energy it needs to do battle so to speak. The best natural remedies for colds start with your immune system.
Blow Your Nose:
Okay, an obvious one I hear you say, but let’s be honest here, what we end up doing more often than not is sniffling that excess mucus back up our nose. This is not what you should be doing. Press your finger against one of your nostrils and gently blow the mucus out the other one..into a handkerchief I might add.
Sleep In A Slope:
This may sound like one of those weird natural remedies for colds, but raising your head with an extra pillow whilst you sleep can do wonders for draining your nasal passage. This might be an awkward one to do because of the comfort levels involved but you can raise your head by inserting an extra pillow directly under it, or you can place the pillow under the mattress itself to gain the same effect.
Lemsip:
This is the best natural remedies for colds in my opinion. Of course this is just a preference of mine and if I come down with a cold, the very first thing I take for it is a good old lemsip, and it does wonders. I have a hot cup and then just rest for as long as I can get away with.
On a final note I would like to add that to drink plenty of fluids throughout the day, vitamin c would be ideal as it is known to be a great remedy. Garlic has also been known to alleviate a lot of the symptoms also.
